Anna Barna Works Highlights
Anna Barna (1901-1964)
Photographer. In the 1930s, she works as a photojournalist for Lutetia Press in Paris. Here, she makes the acquaintance of André Kertész, and remains in contact with him later, following his 1946 emigration to New York. Standing out from among her compositions are the photographs that are staged with dolls, presumably rooted in Surrealist literature. The entirety of her artistic endeavours is unknown, as are the impulses of her surviving photographs. The portion of her oeuvre that is known to us is received by André Kertész after her passing. In 2015, the Hungarian Museum of Photography presents a retrospective exhibition of her work.
