Balázs Beöthy (1965)

Visual artist. Between 1985 and 1992 Beöthy was a member of the group Hejettes Szomjazók [Substitute Thirsters]. At this time, his works represented a critical attitude towards official culture and art institutions. From the ’80s, Beöthy creates installations using mundane objects in non-traditional ways. From the ’90s, he turned towards media works of art using the techniques of video and computer art among others. Besides his artistic practice his curatorial activity is also significant. In 2000, his solo exhibition is held at Ludwig Múzeum, Budapest.
