János Megyik (1938)
Visual artist. In 1956, he emigrates to Vienna, where he studies until 1961 at the Academy of Fine Arts. In his artworks he explores geometry, space, image plane, and the perspective. From the 1960s, he works up his visual vocabulary and formal toolkit, which assures passage between architecture, sculpture, the tableau picture and photography. In the 1970s, employing the principles of projective geometry, he builds stick constructions. Between 1970-1972, he creates metal sculptures, then transitions to the use of wood. From the end of the 1970s, he produces photograms from his wooden constructions, then turns towards using steel sheets. His solo exhibition, entitled The Space of the Image was held at Ludwig Museum, Budapest in 2010.
