Tibor Gáyor (1929-2023)
Architect, visual artist. In 1951, he completes his architecture degree at the Technical University in Budapest, then in 1956, he emigrates to Vienna, and he works as an architect. From 1960 he engages in visual art, and in 1968-1969 he directs his interest to printed visual graphics. Following his early conceptual works, from 1972 he researches the correlations between the plane and the space. Starting in 1973, he elaborates the system, on the basis of which he folds out the planar form at various angles, and he names this system “Folded-Tectonics”. He creates objects and plastic, sculptural works that can be mathematically described and are constructed from serially folded structures. His works are featured in numerous Hungarian, Austrian and international exhibitions and biennials of graphic art.
