István Szendrő (1908-2000)
Photographer. He engages with photography from the end of the 1920s, In Paris, he is the student of Lucien Aigner. He becomes the head of the Centropa Press Association, and he also sends dispatches from France to Hungarian publications. In the first half of the 1930s, he returns to Budapest. He works there as a photojournalist, and he also launches a press agency. He works together with HaFa (Hatschek & Farkas), and then Alfréd Pobuda. He produces genre pictures, those focusing on national dress, landscapes and cityscapes, and he is interested in documenting the various movements. His photographs from 1945 appear in a number of publications revealing the devastation of the war.
